Joan Laporta offers update on Barcelona’s financial situation amid Dani Olmo and Nico Williams transfer talk
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has delivered an update on the club’s financial situation amid speculation the club want to sign Nico Williams and Dani Olmo this summer.
Laporta has previously said that Barca can afford to sign Williams but a deal has yet to be done for the Athletic Club forward.
Barcelona’s president now says the club are still working hard on a number of deals and expects an update shortly.
“The sports news, well, Deco is working on it. But they know that we can cope with certain investments,” he told reporters.
“Now Barça can make signings of the magnitude we are talking about. The fans have been patient and we are in a position to carry out any operation in the market, we will keep you informed shortly.
“We have a series of investors that we will announce. We are in negotiations with Nike that will improve the conditions for Barça. We are satisfied. There will be news in the medium term.
“The economic issue is much better than it was. The process was to save the club, to recover the club and we are on the way to normality.”
Laporta continues to sound optimistic but there’s no doubt that time is ticking away. Barca are due to jet out on their pre-season tour of the United States shortly, with the start of the new season now less than a month away.
