Joan Laporta says Andres Iniesta is the ‘past, present and future’ of Barcelona
Joan Laporta has said Andres Iniesta is the “past, present and future” of Barcelona after the club legend announced he’s hanging up his boots.
The Barcelona president was happy to speak about the club legend and was full of praise not just for his talents but for the person he is away from the football pitch too.
“He is the past, present and future of Barça. He is part of our badge. He is an extraordinary person. He was a player during my first stage as president and I have always had a very good relationship, he was a team player and he was committed,” he told reporters.
“He had elegance, the way he turned, the way he dribbled, his humility. He is one of those sportsmen who make you feel proud to be a Barça player. He is very much loved by everyone. He had great talent, but he was also very much loved because he acted with sportsmanship. He transmitted everything that he is a good person in his football.
“He was formed at home as a player and as a person. He transmits extraordinary values that are deeply rooted in the club, such as commitment, a sense of responsibility, effort and love for the colours,”
Iniesta waved goodbye to Barcelona in 2018 but has already said on several occasions he’d love to come back at some point in the future.
