Juliano Belletti sends message to Barcelona’s youngsters
Juliano Belletti has sent out a message to Barcelona’s youngsters after being confirmed as the new coach of Juvenil A.
The 48-year-old is back with the team after a stint helping Rafa Marquez’s Barca Atletic last season and has made it clear what he wants from his players.
“At this club we have to play good football. The world of football is very competitive and, therefore, young people must learn to live with this. We must have the mentality to play well, improve ourselves, improve as a team, and try to play beautiful football,” he told the club’s media.
“At this club we have to play good football, it shouldn’t be win no matter what. The fact that I was a former footballer, that I was at Barça, but also at other important clubs, and in the Brazil national team… For all these reasons, I know how to manage victory, but also defeat. You don’t always win.”
Belletti also said last season’s experience with Barca Atletic has stood him in good stead ahead of his new role with the Catalans.
“Last season’s experience as an assistant coach to Juvenil A in the first part of the season, and at Barça Atlètic, in the second half of the season, It has helped me to gain experience in this regard,” he added.
“It is a challenge that we have as former footballers to be able to show what we have experienced as players, especially at this club.”
Barca’s youngsters made a big impact at the club last season, with Pau Cubarsi and Lamine Yamal becoming first-team regulars. Belletti’s job is to help more on their journey with the aim of ending up in the senior squad.
