Just in: Another Real Madrid heavyweight out of Barcelona clash with injury

Minutes after it was confronted that Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes will miss the first El Clasico of the season against Barcelona this weekend, Thibaut Courtois has also been ruled out of the contest.

Indeed, Real Madrid issued an official statement just a little while ago confirming that the Belgian goalkeeper is out with an adductor injury.

“Following tests carried out on our player Thibaut Courtois by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the adductor muscle of his left leg. Pending development,” the statement read.

Building on that, journalist Mario Cortegana reports that Courtois will be out of action for a period of two to three weeks, ruling him out of contention to feature against Barcelona this weekend.

This development comes as a major boost for Barcelona considering how important a player Thibaut Courtois is for Real Madrid.

The Belgian goalkeeper has, on many occasions, kept Real Madrid in matches single-handedly with his tremendous shot-stopping and will be a big miss for the La Liga champions as they take on the league leaders this weekend.

Courtois joins Rodrygo, Dani Carvajal and David Alaba on the sidelines while Brahim Diaz is also a doubt for the Clasico.
