Kounde and Christensen into the last 16


Two more blaugranes into the last 16 of the Euro 2024 tournament in Germany. Jules Kounde with France and Andreas Christensen will be in the knock out stages of the competition after the final round matches in their respective groups. 

Denmark are through to the last 16 of the competition after a 0-0 draw in group C with Serbia in their final group game of Euro 2024. The goallless draw between England and Slovenia sees both those sides through also with Andreas Christensen’s Danish side ending up in second place in the group.

The Barça defender played all 90 minutes on Tuesday and Denmark will now face hosts Germany in the last 16 on Sunday at 9pm CEST. 

France made it through from group D after a 1-1 draw against Poland in their final fixture of the initial phase of the competition. However, Austria’s win over the Netherlands means that the French finish in second place in the group behind Ralf Rangnick’s team with their last 16 tie to take place in Dusseldorf on Monday 1 July at 6pm CEST. 

Lewandowski out 

Jules Kounde played all 90 minutes against a Poland side who were already eliminated from the competition coming into Tuesday’s fixture. Barça striker Robert Lewandowski scored with a twice taken penalty for Poland on his farewell to the tournament.
