Lamine Yamal’s stunning new contract worth billions will smash world record held by Barcelona team-mate – FC Barcelona
Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal is reportedly set to be handed a new record-breaking contract worth billions.
Since breaking into the Barcelona senior side last year, Yamal has established himself as one of the most promising young talents in the sport.
The 17-year-old has now made 67 appearances for the La Liga giants and represented Spain during their spectacular run to the Euro 2024 trophy over the summer.
And to reward him for his impressive performances, Yamal will be reportedly given a brand new contract that is set to break a world-record currently held by his Barcelona teammate.
According to Spanish outlet El Chiringuito TV, Barcelona have already planned to give the winger new contract once he turns 18, despite his current deal, which he signed when he was 16, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2026.
The deal will reportedly be signed on July 13, Yamal’s 18th birthday, and keep him at the Nou Camp for a further six years.
However, it is not clear if this will be six years from the end of his current contract, running to 2032, or from next summer, in which case it would end in 2031.
Spectacularly, the release clause for the contract will be a breathtaking one billion euros (£831.2 million) breaking a world record set my teammate Pedri in 2021.
However, when Pedri penned the spectacular deal with Barcelona, he was just one month away from his 19th birthday, meaning, should Yamal pen his new deal in July, he will become the youngest player to sign such an expensive contract by about 11 months.

But the young Spaniards are not the only men at Barcelona with stunning contracts as, according to talkSPORT, Ansu Fati, Ronald Araujo, Ferran Torres and Gavi also have one billion euro release clauses.
And Barcelona aren’t the only La Liga tying down their best players with impossible release clauses, as long-term rivals Real Madrid also have several players on similar contracts.
English superstar Jude Bellingham is one of four players at the Bernabeu with one billion euro release clauses, alongside Vinicius Jr, Eduardo Camavinga and Rodrygo.
