Luis Suarez has given Barcelona Darwin Nunez transfer instruction amid Liverpool uncertainty

Former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has already explained why Barcelona should sign Darwin Nunez.

Nunez’s future at Liverpool has been the subject of debate in recent weeks. The striker scored 18 goals this season in all competitions, but there remains uncertainty over whether he has a long-term future at Anfield.

The Uruguayan sparked further speculation about his future when he deleted the majority of his Liverpool-related posts from his Instagram account. That was followed by suggestions of a potential rift between himself and Jurgen Klopp, something the striker has since played down talk of in a recent interview.

Suarez spent three-and-a-half seasons with the Reds during which time he scored 82 goals. The former Liverpool striker has often spoken very highly about Nunez, and it was a year before the Reds No.9 moved to Anfield that Suarez had spoken about his desire to see his compatriot move to Barcelona.

It was in 2020 that Nunez left Almeria to join Benfica, where he would go on to spend two seasons before signing for Liverpool. Suarez was left impressed by Nunez’s form at Almeria that he advised Barcelona to sign the striker during his time at the Camp Nou.

“I recommended Darwin to Barcelona when he was at Almeria,” Suarez told Gerard Romero on Twitch in October 2021. “I have 15 years of international experience. I know a thing or two about forwards.
