New Barcelona Atletic coach named after Rafa Marquez’s departure
Albert Sanchez has been announced as the new coach of Barcelona Atletic following Rafa Marquez’s sudden departure just before the start of the new season.
Barcelona have confirmed that Sanchez will be taking over and has a deal in place for the coming campaign.
Here’s the official statement:
“Albert Sánchez is the new coach of Barça Atlètic. The coach from Esplugues de Llobregat has reached an agreement with FC Barcelona to manage the Blaugrana subsidiary for one season, until June 30, 2025.”

Sanchez joined Barcelona in 2021 and originally worked with Juvenil A under Oscar Lopez before moving on to work with Marquez.
Barcelona Atletic’s new coach has also had roles in China, Kuwait and in Saudi Arabia and now takes on a challenge working with some of the club’s best youngsters.
The coach has already overseen the start of pre-season training with Barca Atletic and will now continue to lead the team for the rest of the campaign.
