Transfer Rumors and News

Newly-promoted Premier League club submit offer for Barcelona winger target

In their search for a new left-winger, FC Barcelona have identified Hull City star Jaden Philogene as an option for the ongoing summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old English forward is seen as a low-cost alternative to top targets like Nico Williams and Luis Diaz, with reports suggesting that talks over a loan deal with a buy option are already underway.

Earlier today, Hull City owner Acun Ilicali went ahead and confirmed that Barça are indeed interested in signing the England Under-21 international this summer.

However, the Blaugrana are set to face intense competition in the race for Philogene’s services. As reported already, Everton, Tottenham and West Ham United have shown an interest and a new suitor has now emerged.

Ipswich Town submit offer for Jaden Philogene

Indeed, according to The Athletic, newly-promoted Premier League club Ipswich Town have shown an interest in signing Jaden Philogene.

In fact, the Suffolk club have already submitted an offer to Hull City for the 22-year-old winger and his teammate and centre-back Jacob Greaves.

Ipswich Town are understood to have tabled a joint bid worth £35 million (€41 million) for Philogene and Greaves.

Discussions are underway between Ipswich and Hull City over the operation but it is still far away from being finalised at this stage.

Concern for Barcelona?

Barcelona’s interest in Philogene appears to be concrete, but as mentioned above, the Blaugrana have other priorities at the same time.

However, given the financial situation at the Catalan club, signing either Nico Williams or Luis Diaz will not be straightforward and would require some important sales.

But Chelsea are understood to be pressing to sign Nico from Athletic Club and now with interest in Philogene also spiking, Barça must need to make their moves quickly.

The 22-year-old Englishman, for his part, is expected to make a decision on his future imminently, confirms Fabrizio Romano.
