OFFICIAL: Barcelona appoint Hansi Flick as new manager after Xavi’s exit

Barcelona have confirmed that Hansi Flick has been appointed as the club’s new manager following Xavi’s exit from the club at the end of the season.

Flick arrives on a two-year deal and will be officially presented at a ceremony at the club at a later date.

Here’s how Barcelona teased Flick’s appointment on social media:

And here he is!

The club had previously announced officially that a settlement had been reached to terminate Xavi’s contract a year early.

“FC Barcelona and Xavi Hernández Creus have reached an agreement to sever the contract the coach and his staff had with the club until the end of the 2024/25 season,” read a statement.

“The club wishes to publicly thanks Xavi and the rest of his coaching staff for their commitment, dedication and generosity, and for their help in reaching an agreement to sever the contract. Furthermore, we wish him success in the future on both a personal and professional level.”

Flick is best known for his work with Bayern where he famously won the Bavarian giants the Sextuple in 2020-21. The coach then moved on to the Germany job but found it tough going and was sacked in 2023.
