Official: Barcelona confirm starting date for pre-season under Hansi Flick
FC Barcelona have officially announced that the pre-season ahead of the 2024/25 season under new manager Hansi Flick will kickstart on July 10.
Indeed, Barça will start preparations for the new campaign under the tutelage of their new head coach on Wednesday, July 10, beginning with a series of medical tests for the returning players.
Flick will get a good look at the players at Ciutat Esportiva over a two-week period before Barcelona fly off to the USA on their pre-season tour.
The squad will travel to the US on July 28, where they will play a series of friendly encounters against Manchester City (July 30), Real Madrid (August 3), and AC Milan (August 6).
Who will be available at the start of the pre-season?
At the moment, a large contingent of the Barcelona players are away on international duty, representing their respective countries at the Euros or the Copa America. Those not involved are on vacation.
With both tournaments ending mid-July, it is unlikely that manager Flick will have all of the first-team players at his disposal when the pre-season kicks off on July 10.
Players like Inigo Martinez, Oriol Romeu, Inaki Pena, Sergi Roberto, and Pau Cubarsi, not participating in either competition are expected to be present along with the likes of Alejandro Balde and Frenkie de Jong, as they are in the final phase of their injury recoveries.
Gavi, too, will likely be present, even though his return is still a few months away. Robert Lewandowski could also be back following Poland’s early elimination from the Euros.
Returning loanees like Ansu Fati, Clement Lenglet, Alex Valle, and Eric Garcia will also likely be available, while players from the youth and reserve team squads could be called up.
