Official: Barcelona confirm thigh injury to forward; out for 7-8 weeks
Following his substitution early in the game against Alaves last night, FC Barcelona have officially confirmed that Ferran Torres has indeed sustained a thigh injury.
“Tests carried out on the first team player Ferran Torres confirm that he has an injury to the biceps femoris muscle in his right thigh. His return to training will be dependent on his recovery,” the statement from the club read.
Torres started the game against Alaves away at the Mendizorroza Stadium but had to be taken off just six minutes in, with Eric Garcia replacing him.
Reports after the game suggested that the Spaniard had indeed sustained a thigh injury, with the club now officially confirming the same.
Out for 7-8 weeks
Early prognosis suggested that Ferran could be out for a period of around three to four weeks.
However, the latest update from RAC1, after the confirmation of the nature of his injury, states that the former Manchester City could be out for close to two months.
If so, it will come as a blow for Barcelona as even though Torres has not been in the best of form this season, Hansi Flick has constantly relied on him in matches.
Indeed, Ferran has started six games in all competitions, and featured ten times overall.
The good news is that the Catalans will recover players like Dani Olmo, Gavi, and Fermin Lopez after the international break, which will make things much easier for the manager.
