Official: Hansi Flick nominated for La Liga ‘Coach of the month’ for August
Considering Barcelona’s registration issues and long injury list, not many expected the Catalans to get off to a flying start in La Liga.
Yet, the team have looked almost unbeatable every time they have taken to the field and it is clear that a lot has changed in terms of the on-field dynamics.
Hansi Flick has changed Barcelona’s style of play, bringing much-needed directness and verticality to a team that appeared stale on the ball last season.
Now, they currently lead the league standings with four wins in as many appearances and look set for a great run.
Nominated as the best
In just his first season in Spain, Flick appears to have decoded the league’s style of play and has led his men to an unbelievable start to the campaign.
It is thus no surprise that he has been nominated for the title of ‘Manager of the Month’ for August by La Liga, the result of which will be determined by a public vote.

There are a total of three nominees for the award, of whom Flick leads the charts. Nominated with him are Villarreal manager Marcelino Garcia and Alaves coach Luis Garcia Plaza.
While the Yellow Submarine have won two and drawn two games so far, Alaves have two wins, a draw and a loss to their name.
Given Barcelona’s perfect start to the season and especially the emphatic 7-0 win over Real Valladolid, it is safe to say that Flick is the overwhelming favourite to take home the manager of the month title for August.
