Official: Three Barcelona stars in Spain’s Olympics squad, no Yamal, Balde
With the Paris Olympic Games set to kick off in under a month, Spain have announced the squad of players who will be participating in the tournament.
And, as many as three FC Barcelona players have been called up by La Roja’s Under-23 manager Santi Denia for the Olympics.
Indeed, breakout star Pau Cubarsi gets a call-up after he was left out of the senior squad for the ongoing UEFA Euro 2024.
The 17-year-old will be joined by fellow defender Eric Garcia who is back at Barcelona after spending a successful spell on loan at Girona.
The third Barça starlet to make the squad list is attacking midfielder Fermin Lopez, who is currently a part of the senior Spain squad at the UEFA Euro 2024 but has not been used much by manager Luis de la Fuente.

There were concerns that Denia could call up Lamine Yamal despite his involvement at the Euros, but the 16-year-old wonderkid is not named in the squad.
Alejandro Balde, recovering from an injury, has also not been selected despite rumours suggesting his call-up was a possibility. Returning loanee Ansu Fati is also not a part of the squad.
