Pablo Álvarez returns to Barça on a two year deal


Pablo Álvarez is back at Barça after agreeing a two year deal. The Argentine returns to the Club after having spent the last three seasons at Portuguese club Benfica where he won the league in 2023 and a Supertaça António Livramento.

Second spell at the Palau

This will be Pablo Álvarez’s second spell at FC Barcelona after departing in 2021. In his first spell the South American striker spent 10 years as a blaugrana between 2011 and 2021, winning 31 trophies and becoming the second highest scorer in OK league history with 551 goals. 

At Barça he won nine league titles, seven Spanish Super Cups, five Copas del Rey, three European League, two Intercontinental Cups and two Continental Cups as well as three Catalan Leagues in his 10 season spell. 

From San Juan to Europe

Álvarez made his debut in Argentina in 2001 before making the move to Europe inn 2005 when he signed for Liceo. In 2011 he joined Barça where he became one of the top goalscorers of his generation. Now, he returns to FC Barcelona to bring his vast experience to David Cáceres’ squad.
