Pedri reveals what Hansi Flick wants from him in his new role at Barcelona
Barcelona midfielder Pedri has been talking about life at the club under new manager Hansi Flick.
The Catalans have enjoyed a perfect start to the new season, winning all four La Liga games, with Pedri back to fitness after suffering an injury at Euro 2024.
Barcelona’s No.8 says he’s enjoying his new role in the team and revealed exactly what Flick wants from him.
“It’s true that I’m playing further back with Flick, but it’s a position I like,” he told .
“I’m in constant contact with the ball and, at the end of the day, what a player wants is to have the ball and the more the better. All the coaches ask me to get there, but Flick also asks me to organise.
“He wants me to stick to the ‘6’ to get the ball out and, when we have it, to get up there and score goals and assist.”
Pedri also spoke briefly about what’s changed at the club since Flick replaced former boss Xavi at the helm.
“With Xavi, everything was criticised, everything seemed to be going wrong, but now everything is going more smoothly. He is not criticised so much in the press and has brought seriousness, although he also hesitates and is close to the players,” he added.
“Although he may seem like a robot and is very serious, he has a heart and knows how to lead a group. He is capable of giving a hug to someone who needs it or having a chat with them.
Flick and Barcelona will be hoping Pedri can enjoy a strong season and enjoy an injury-free campaign after returning to full fitness.
