PSG double Barcelona’s contract offer for €58m-rated speedster – report

Barcelona are going all out in their pursuit of Nico Williams from Athletic Club. The Catalans have everything ready to activate his €58 million release clause while personal terms are also being sorted out.

In fact, only recently reports claimed that Barça had reached an agreement over a five-year contract proposal with the Spaniard’s agent and that only the final OK from the player was remaining.

PSG change things

However, PSG’s entry into the picture appears to have changed things for Nico Williams and Barcelona.

Indeed, according to Catalunya Radio, PSG have tabled a contract offer to the UEFA Euro 2024 winner that is double what Barcelona have proposed to him.

As such, even though there was an agreement between the Catalans and the winger’s camp, PSG’s lucrative proposal threatens to change things.

Despite the development, however, Barcelona remain optimistic about signing the 22-year-old from Athletic Club.

It was reported earlier in the week that Nico had instructed his agent not to negotiate with any other club and that he only wanted Barça.

However, PSG’s proposal to double what the Blaugrana are offering to him could alter things as the La Liga heavyweights are not in a position to match what the Ligue 1 champions are putting on the table.

So, now the ball lies in the court of young Nico, who will have to decide between Barcelona, PSG, or staying put at his boyhood club Athletic Club and continuing playing with his brother.

The Spanish international is back in Bilbao after his vacation and a decision should be expected in the coming days.
