PSG rival Barcelona in race for exit-bound Bayern Munich superstar

Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich has been a transfer target for FC Barcelona since last summer after they bid goodbye to Sergio Busquets.

A move was not possible last year owing to the club’s financial situation coupled with Bayern Munich’s stance on the midfielder’s future.

However, things are different now as Kimmich is expected to leave the Bavarian giants with his contract now in its final year.

Barcelona, for their part, continue to maintain an interest, more so with Hansi Flick taking over the reins as manager. However, there is competition aplenty for Kimmich’s signing.

PSG join race

Manchester City are already understood to be interested in Joshua Kimmich, but now Barcelona have to contend with competition from yet another European heavyweight in the race for the German.

Indeed, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, French champions PSG are great admirers of Kimmich and have joined the race to sign him from Bayern Munich.

The Parisian giants are gearing up for some shake-up in their squad following Kylian Mbappe’s exit and are looking at reinforcements in several positions, including midfield, especially with Manuel Ugarte likely to depart.

Kimmich, thus, has emerged as a concrete target for PSG, with the club understood to appreciate his quality.

Apart from Barcelona and PSG, there are other Premier League clubs also looking at the 29-year-old German international.

This is certainly a hurdle for Barça as PSG can easily outdo them in terms of the offers that they can table to Bayern Munich and Kimmich.

With an exit very much on the cards and no shortage of suitors, Kimmich’s next destination will likely come down to the midfielder’s desire.
