Raphinha opens up on ‘annoying’ transfer talk, turning down offers and being one of Barcelona’s captains
Barcelona forward Raphinha has admitted he’s been “bothered” by frequent rumors about a possible exit from the club but is thrilled at being named one of the team’s captains.
Raphinha’s name regularly cropped up in rumor mills this summer, with suggestions Barca were willing to cash in on the Brazilian to help ease their financial problems.
However, a move failed to materialise and it’s since emerged he’s been voted by the dressing room as one of the captains along with Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Ronald Araujo Frenkie de Jong, and Pedri.
Raphinha says the news has given him a big boost after plenty of “annoying” transfer talk.
“It’s annoying to see exit rumors, it’s normal. Every day there’s a different news, that if I leave here or there, and that ends up bothering you,” he told RAC1. “I’ve received many offers, but the best thing for me is to be at Barça.
“After reading that you will leave, that the club does not count on you, after hearing the press speak badly of you… I would never have imagined being one of the captains of Barça. I’m very excited. In the dressing room, people trust me. It makes you feel more important.”
Barca have gone on to enjoy a strong start to the season after another dramatic summer transfer window. Raphinha is also thriving and bagged a hat-trick and and assist last time out in the demolition of Real Valladolid.
