Rennes join race for Mika Faye with €10m offer for Barcelona defender
Mika Faye continues to be a very hot property in the transfer market as Barcelona have received several contacts from teams around Europe for the 20-year-old defender, and one more club has joined the race.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports Barça have received a formal bid from Ligue 1 side Rennes worth €10 million plus a sell-on clause that would give Barça as much as 25% of a future sale.
Romano’s report indicates the race is still very much open, with Rennes only the latest side to show their interest just as AS Monaco did a few days ago.

Barça always asked for buy-back clause as key step to let Faye leave to keep future control on the player.

Romano also reports that Barça are demanding to include a buy-back option on any deal they make for Faye as they know how high the player’s potential is, but the Blaugrana also know they can get immediate value for the defender and the depth at the position hurts his chances of getting real minutes in the first team.
An exit for Faye makes sense for more reasons than just financial. He needs to play, and a move to one of the Top 5 leagues would definitely help his development. And if Barça can make some money too, they won’t complain.
