Revealed: What Iago Aspas told Gerard Martin during Barcelona’s draw with Celta
Barcelona defender Gerard Martin clashed with Iago Aspas during Saturday’s draw with Celta at Balaidos before the left-back was subbed by Hansi Flick.
Martin was fortunate to stay on after a challenge on Aspas, when he was on a yellow card, that left the Celta star enraged.
Aspas really lost the plot, raging at the officials just before half-time, and was then spotted talking to Martin at the break.
Footage of the incident has been analysed by DAZN to reveal exactly what the two men said to each other.
Aspaas warned Martin he would be replaced by his manger, saying “You stepped on me, and he (Flick) saw it and is going to change you,” Martín replied saying “it’s a small foul” which saw an angry Aspas shout back “It’s incredible!”
Flick did indeed end up taking Martin off and replacing him with Hector Fort in the second half after a difficult opening 45 minutes for the defender.
