Romano: Bayern Munich targeting young FC Barcelona striker with €6 million release clause

Every season, it seems as if FC Barcelona find one or two or five exceptionally talented youngsters who burst onto the scene in an explosive fashion and give the Catalans no choice but to include them in their plans.

Whether it is by design or due to their financial status, this past season has been no different. Though the otherworldly Lamine Yamal has rightfully taken all the headlines, a young striker called Marc Guiu also burst onto the scene in explosive fashion, scoring the winner in his debut for the Barcelona senior squad and catching the eye with his pace, power and size. As Vitor Roque joined the club and former Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski recovered his form, however, Guiu’s chances for minutes dried up almost entirely and he ended the season with less than 100 total league minutes.

That does not seem to deter Bayern and Chelsea FC, however, as Fabrizio Romano has credited both clubs with interest in young Guiu. Given his contract is set to expire in 2025 and contains a paltry 6 million euro release clause, Barcelona want to offer him a new deal but terms seem far from agreed.

It has been rumored that Bayern want a striker to replace the outgoing Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and such a low release clause might be tempting for the Bavarians. It certainly would be tempting for Chelsea, as the Londoners try to sweep up all the young talent they can find in an ongoing effort the bankrupt the club.

However, there is a good chance that this rumor comes from Guiu’s agent, looking to take advantage of their strong position and ensure a nice big pay raise for the young La Masia graduate.
