Sergio Roberto wanted by Ajax after Barcelona contract expires
Barcelona captain Sergi Roberto has been approached by Eredivisie giants Ajax about a possible summer move.
Roberto is now a free agent after his contract expired at the end of June. He had been expected to sign a new deal but that now seems highly unlikely.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says that Roberto is now thinking about a move to the Netherlands.
He posted on X: “Sergi Roberto, considering options as free agent with Ajax among clubs approaching him. Ajax have genuine interest, Sergi will assess all options in the next days. Sergi Roberto, set to part ways with Barça as free agent.”

Barcelona haven’t said anything officially about Roberto yet. The only words have come from Hansi Flick after he was quizzed about last season’s captain at his unveiling.
“He is not a Barça player at the moment,” he told reporters, while club president Joan Laporta refused to say anything on the topic.
Roberto had been hoping there would be room for him to stay on for another year, but it seems likely he’ll have to find a new club instead.
