Spectacular win, rout and a statement from the best team in Europe

FC Barcelona experienced another magical night in the Champions League. The Blaugrana made their debut in front of their fans in the European competition with a resounding 5-0 win over Young Boys in the match corresponding to the second day of the current edition of the tournament. A victory that allows the team to redeem itself after the defeat in Monaco and that also had a special flavour, since Frenkie de Jong and Ansu Fati appeared in front of the culé fans for the first time this season.

Barça won practically without breaking a sweat, with the duel being a monologue from the first minute. Hansi Flick’s men took advantage of the Swiss’ conservative stance and struck early thanks to a goal from Robert Lewandowski. From then on, the match was ‘broken’ and the Blaugranas dominated at will, extending their advantage thanks to goals from Raphinha and Iñigo Martínez.

On returning from the changing rooms, ‘Lewy‘ was crowned the ‘MVP’ of the day by celebrating his double, and Mohamed Camara put the ‘nail in the coffin’ with an own goal that perfectly represented the tragic day for the black and yellows.

A victory with two special returns

Barça’s victory was even sweeter due to the returns of Frenkie de Jong and Ansu Fati to the Montjuïc pitch. The Dutchman returned after being out for five months to play the last 15 minutes of the match, being the best news of the day. Meanwhile, the ’10’, who had already seen some minutes in the first match in Monaco, made his debut in front of his fans for the first time this season.

In this way, the Blaugrana team has left behind the setback suffered in the first match against the Monegasques and has recovered its good feelings with a thrashing that shows that, at present, they are the best team on the continent. In addition, they have jumped to tenth position in the table, entering, for the moment, the qualifying positions for the playoffs.
