‘The greatest talent’ – Xavi pays tribute to Andres Iniesta after Barcelona legend retires
Xavi Hernandez has described Andres Iniesta as the “greatest talent” Spain has ever seen after his good friend and former midfield partner hung up his boots on Tuesday.
Iniesta announced his decision at a special event which was attended by Xavi and a host of other Barcelona stars past and present.
Xavi then took to social media afterwards to pay a touching tribute to Iniesta.
“The greatest talent that Spanish football has given! Thank you for everything you have given to football, friend. A privilege to have enjoyed by your side for so long. Unsurpassed human quality. I love you very much. I love you so much @andresiniesta8 ❤️⚽️ ”
Iniesta said during the event that he would like to return to Barcelona one day in the future.
“I hope that Hansi Flick is here for a long time as that will mean that our club has achieved a lot of success. The goal is to be a coach,” he said.
“I would like to return to Barça but when I can be there and I feel good enough to be there. I would be delighted if the circumstances are right.”
