Three ‘greats’ from the Premier join the ‘race’ for one of the scorers that interests Barça

One of the names that has been buzzing recently in the orbit of FC Barcelona’s candidates to strengthen the forward line, not only with a view to the present but also with an eye on the future, is that of the 24-year-old Canadian forward, Jonathan David. This potential signing is supported by both sporting arguments and economic considerations.

Jonathan David is having a rather interesting 2024-25 season in numerical terms with LOSC Lille, being the main offensive reference for the ‘Dogos’, with 13 goals in 19 matches, most of them in Ligue 1 (seven). He has also shown his significant goal-scoring ability in the current edition of the UEFA Champions League, scoring against renowned teams such as Real Madrid (1), Atletico Madrid (2), and Juventus (1), with two more goals in the qualifiers for this competition.

In addition to his sporting performances, the potential transfer of Jonathan David has a special appeal, as it could be carried out at zero cost. Why? Because the forward’s contract with LOSC Lille expires on June 30, 2025, and although the French club is trying to renew it, the situation does not seem entirely clear, leaving several scenarios open for this transaction.

However, it cannot be overlooked that while Barcelona seems to be seriously considering the option of signing Jonathan David, Juventus and Atletico Madrid are the most mentioned competitors so far, other top clubs on the continent are also interested in the Canadian forward.

New top competitors join the ‘race’ for Jonathan David’s signing

According to reports from the Italian outlet ‘Il Corriere dello Sport’, three stellar teams from the Premier League are closely monitoring Jonathan David‘s situation, and it is not ruled out that they may make an offer soon. It is mentioned that both Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal could seriously consider the option of securing the services of the Canadian, whose market value (according to ‘Transfermarkt’) is 45 million euros.

THE POLL
Will FC Barcelona end up signing Jonathan David?

At this point, it will be interesting to see what finally happens in this case: if Barcelona manages to secure his signing, taking advantage of its attractive sporting project and the player’s potential interest in joining LaLiga, or if it opts to accept an offer from another club. It is also possible that he decides to renew his contract, which cannot be completely ruled out.
