‘Two weeks’ – Robert Lewandowski tells Barcelona when Wojciech Szczęsny will be ready to debut
Robert Lewandowski says Wojciech Szczęsny will only need “two weeks” of training to be ready for action with Barcelona.
The two players have been reunited again at Barcelona, with Szczesny coming out of retirement to play for the Catalan giants.
Lewandowski has been asked about the new signing while on international duty with Poland and offered up the following insight into his move.
“I can reveal that before Wojtek parted ways with Juventus, he told me that the only option for him to continue playing was FC Barcelona,” he told reporters.
“He did not go out of circulation during his temporary retirement – on the contrary, he gained some freshness, and two weeks of calm training at the club will be enough for him. I am sure that he will help this team many times.”
The striker is also in no doubt that Szczesny will settle in quickly at Barcelona after his move.
“When a new player comes in, you definitely have to show him the nooks and crannies of the locker room,” he added.
“It’s similar with Wojtek. With his experience and approach to life, he should find his way very quickly.”
Inaki Pena is currently Barcelona’s No. 1, after Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s injury, but will now face competition for his place from the former Arsenal and Juventus stopper.
