Vinicius could have joined Barcelona before Real Madrid move, claims agent – ‘He’s a Culer’

It is no secret that Barcelona’s age-old rivals, Real Madrid, have fully tapped into the Brazilian market over the last few years.

The Merengues have signed a host of South American youngsters from the region, with the likes of Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo, and Endrick all plying their trade in the Spanish capital.

However, Barcelona are no slouch when it comes to recruiting elite Brazilian talents either, even if arrivals from the country may have slightly reduced in recent years.

Ronaldinho, Romario, Neymar, Rivaldo, and Ronaldo are some of the best Brazilian footballers to have created lasting legacies in Catalonia.

And they welcomed Vitor Roque just this year after the highly-rated forward made the leap from Athletico Paranaense.

‘Vinicius was Culer’

Now, Andre Cury, who represents many Brazilian prodigies, including Vitor Roque, has made a daring claim that Vinicius was inches away from signing for the Catalan giants.

Cury further stated that he could have joined Barça due to his affinity for the club, but the forward’s entourage betrayed the Blaugrana.

“With Vinícius, in addition, we were betrayed by his representative. Vinícius would have come to Barça because he’s a Culer,” he professed to RAC1.

Just as Real Madrid laments their missed opportunity with Neymar, Barcelona arguably harbours similar sentiments regarding Vinicius, given his remarkable impact since joining Europe.

Andre Curry offers insight into Real Madrid’s motives

Furthermore, Andre Cury claimed Real Madrid’s exorbitant spending on Rodrygo and Vinicius stemmed from their failure to acquire Neymar.

“Real Madrid went crazy paying very big amounts for Rodrygo and Vinícius, because they missed out on Neymar,” Cury exclaimed.

The Brazilian winger had options to play for Madrid, but as fate had it, he eventually donned the Blaugrana colors and went on to create history with them, notably winning the treble in 2015.

In order to avoid missing out on gems from their arch-rivals, Real Madrid began the hunt for young Brazilian forwards before they exploded in the big leagues.
