Watch: Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez scores for Spain vs Dominican Republic | Olympics 2024

After winning the UEFA Euro 2024 with the Spanish national team this summer, Fermin Lopez is now hoping to add an Olympic gold medal to his collection as well.

Indeed, the Barcelona youngster is one of three players from the Blaugrana club to be representing Spain at the Paris Olympics, along with Pau Cubarsi and Eric Garcia.

And, the 21-year-old attacking midfielder made his mark at the quadrennial event today when he opened the scoring for Spain in their second group game against Dominican Republic.

A little after the halfway mark in the first period, Fermin showed great anticipation to pounce an erroneous pass from the opposition goalkeeper, beating the Dominican Republic defender to the ball before calmly slotting it into the back of the net to make it 1-0.

Throughout the last season, Fermin showcased his goalscoring acumen for Barcelona and has now carried it forward with the Spanish team at the Olympic Games.

Impressed by his breakthrough debut season, Barcelona are already planning to reward him with an improved contract even though they had renewed the 21-year-old only last year.
