What Barcelona are being told by Nico Williams’ agent to keep hopes alive
Barcelona continue to brief that they are not giving up on Athletic Club winger Nico Williams, despite the 22-year-old seemingly confirming that he would be remaining in Bilbao.
The Euro 2024 winger returned to Athletic training this week, and said he was ‘looking forward to the season, let’s go Athletic’ during a social media video. With Barcelona still yet to activate his release clause, and a move for Dani Olmo confirmed, many have digested this as their hopes of signing Williams as over.
Breaking: Barcelona are optimistic about the signing of Nico Williams. Barça have returned to La Liga’s 1:1 rule, and the player knows this. There’s a high chance that Williams will be signed. @DBR8

However that is not what is coming out of Barcelona’s media. Speaking on the topic, Matteo Moretto has explained that Barcelona will continue to push for the Williams signing until they are rejected by Williams, something yet to happen. Simultaneously, Athletic remain very confident that their star winger will remain at the club this summer.
Barcelona also continue to be in contact with his agent, Felix Tainta though, and the response they keep getting – be calm. What exactly that means for Williams’ future only time will tell.
