Why are Barcelona wearing a special kit for El Clasico? New strip launched as Spanish giants take on Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham
Barcelona will be wearing a unique kit during this evening’s El Clasico as they take on bitter rivals Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants will meet tonight for a huge La Liga clash, with Barca sitting at top of the table as things stand.
It’s going to be a thrilling occasion, with Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha coming up against Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and co.
And to mark it, Hansi Flick’s side are wearing a special strip…
Why are Barcelona wearing a special kit?
Barcelona will have a unique kit on as part of a collaboration with seven-time Grammy winning band Coldplay.
The Spanish giants have been sponsored by Spotify since 2022 and the music streaming site’s logo is on the front of on their shirts.
The Nou Camp was even renamed the Spotify Nou Camp from last season.
Due to this connection between Barca and Spotify, they have been regularly collaborating with the world’s best music artists.
Since the sponsorship began, Barcelona have had Drake‘s and The Rolling Stones’ logos on their kits for special occasions.
And now it’s Coldplay who will be featuring on their shirts.
Announcing the unique strip earlier this month, Spotify released a statement that read: “This time, the Barca shirt will feature a special Coldplay logo.
“It is inspired by its tenth album, Moon Music, which debuted at Number 1 on Spotify’s weekly global charts and is out now.
“The shirt will be worn during FC Barcelona’s El Clásico match on October 26, as well as FC Barcelona Femení’s match on November 2.”
The kit includes a line of multiple types of moons to indicate Coldplay’s new album ‘Moon Music’.
It will just be worn for the game against Real Madrid but the limited edition kit is available for fans to buy.
The women’s and men’s shirts will both cost £399.99 from the Barcelona club shop while other merchandise is being sold too.
Some supporters may have it on while watching the game at the Bernabeu this Saturday evening.
Kick-off is scheduled for 8pm UK time and the action will be broadcast live on Premier Sports.
