The goalkeeper has joined after Marc-Andre ter Stegen was ruled out with a long-term knee injury and will battle Inaki Pena for the No. 1 spot.
Barca had already registered Szczesny with La Liga and he’s now eligible to play in the Champions League too.
The Catalans return to action in the competition after the international break with games against Bayern Munich and then a trip to Crvena zvezda.
Szczesny and Pena are the only two goalkeepers on the A list for the Champions League, although Ander Astralaga, Diego Kochen, and Aron Yaakobishvili are on the B list.
It’s not clear yet which goalkeeper Hansi Flick will favor for the rest of the season, but Szczesny is expected to be match fit and ready to go when Barca return to action.
