Yamal speaks following heroic brace in Barcelona 3-3 Granada, ter Stegen fails to take responsibility

Barcelona faced off against Granada for gameweek 24 of La Liga. Nobody quite expected the drama that unfolded at the Olympic Saint Montjuic, even though the Catalans have not won any of their last four games against the Andalusians.

Lamine Yamal was the hero of the game, scoring early on to give Barcelona the lead, and also finding the equaliser to make it 3-3 eventually.

In between those goals, Granada took the lead twice, scoring their second goal in the 60th minute, and their third in the 66th, three minutes after Robert Lewandowski’s goal.

Speaking after the game, Yamal said, “I work very hard and I’m always at the manager’s disposal.”

“We have to continue working and take advantage of every opportunity,” he added.

Despite scoring two and receiving the MVP award for the game, Yamal lamented over the chance to cut the lead against Girona to three points in second place.

“I’m thinking about the draw and the lost opportunity and instead of myself or the MOTM award.”

Unlike fans, who probably believe La Liga to be a lost cause by now, given Real Madrid’s ten-points lead, the 16-year-old still seemed confident, saying, “There are still many games left to win the league, the teams in front can also drop points.”

Barcelona create the most chances of any team in Spain, and have been let down by their defensive problems, unlike last season. Yamal also affirmed the same thing.

“The coach gives me confidence, I’m fully with him. We concede too many goals, like today, we have to improve.”

Ter Stegen drops a stinker on return

Marc-Andre ter Stegen returned to the side for the first time since November, and was inarguably the worst performer for Barcelona.

Not only did he carelessly give away possession multiple times, but can also be questioned about two of the three goals he conceded today.

The German captain failed to take responsibility after the game, though, saying, “We have to be more concentrated when we defend, we know.”

“The goals we conceded a few minutes apart are tough to take. We can’t let this happen again. We were about to come back,” he concluded in his interview.
