Chelsea may return to try and sign Barcelona star, they can get him for just £8.5m

Reports from Spain have claimed that Chelsea could well return to the scene to try and sign one player from Barcelona when the transfer window opens again.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Blues may look to make a move for youngster Pau Cubarsi, with him having a very achievable release clause in his current deal.

The 17-year-old is currently representing the Barca Atletic side who are associated with the main club, and has become a semi-regular for them in recent months at the back.

There is a lot of promise around the young centre-back, and Chelsea are certainly not shy to bring in players at that kind of age bracket.

The likes of Kendry Paez, Andrey Santos and Deivid Washington have all been brought in with the aim of them playing a big part in the future of the club.

This is likely to be the fate of Cubarsi if he would join the club, and it has been reported that they may well make a move after registering previous interest in.

Chelsea want Cubarsi

Chelsea are currently likely not too thrilled with what their defensive options have offered so far this season, and one of the more consistent figures is likely to be on the move at the end of this campaign.

There is currently no plans to extend the contract of Thiago Silva, with him approaching the age of 40 at the start of next season.

However, it should be noted than an experienced figure at the club should not be neglected based on the age of their current available options.

Levi Colwill and Benoit Badiashile in particular are still very early into what promises to be illustrious careers, and therefore having someone to learn and take advice from should absolutely be in the mind of those making decisions at Stamford Bridge.
