La Liga heavyweights Barcelona have ruled out a summer move for 20-year-old versatile Sevilla full-back Juanlu Sanchez.
According to a report by Mundo Deportivo, Juanlu Sanchez has been the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants are compiling a list of alternatives if they fail to complete a permanent move for Joao Cancelo in the summer transfer window. However, they have ruled out a move for the 20-year-old versatile Sevilla full-back.
The rise of Juanlu Sanchez this season
Juanlu Sanchez has been a breath of fresh air for Sevilla this season. A native of Montequinto, he turned out for CD Los Caminantes and CD San Alberto Magno before joining Sevilla. Since then, the Spaniard has gone from strength to strength, rising through the ranks at the Andalusian club before breaking into the first-team squad.
A loan spell at CD Mirandes in the 2022/23 season helped the youngster gain confidence and first-team experience. And the 20-year-old has been exceptional thus far in the 2023/24 campaign. While the player has yet to become the undisputed first-choice right-back, he has made his mark in his 1,603 minutes of game time across 34 appearances.
Juanlu’s exploits at Sevilla thus far this season has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, particularly from La Liga. Widespread reports have heavily linked the versatile Spanish full-back with Real Madrid. However, he has also been a target for Barcelona.

Barcelona’s interest in Juanlu Sanchez is understandable. The Catalan giants have finally found their long-sought right-back solution in Joao Cancelo. However, a permanent move for the Portuguese international is not a foregone conclusion, even though he has his heart set on remaining at the club.
