Gavi only at ‘halfway stage’ of recovery as Barcelona blame Spain for severity of knee injury

Barcelona midfielder Gavi is said to be only at “50%” of his recovery from injury and may not return to action until November or December after ACL surgery.

A recent update had claimed Gavi would be ready by September/October time but the latest thinking suggests it may be a while longer.

Diario AS claim a dressing room source has informed them that Gavi is “at 50%” of his recovery and still has a long way to go.

There have been no setbacks or problems but it’s said he will need at least of month of training after being given the medical green light to get up to speed after such a long lay-off.

Barcelona now expect him to make his comeback around October/November time but do not think he will be at “full capacity” until January 2025.

The report also says Barca “suspect” the injury was made worse by Spain’s team doctors. Apparently, Gavi continued playing after suffering a torn ligament which then caused the meniscus to tear – adding another few months onto his recovery.
