Barcelona offered the chance to hire former Chelsea manager to replace Xavi


After Xavi Hernandez’s sudden announcement, Barcelona are engrossed in search of a new manager, who can replace the Spaniard in the coming summer.

The Catalans have been linked with moves for several managers across Europe, including Imanol Alguacil, Michel, Jurgen Klopp, and Hansi Flick, among others.

Barcelona have not stopped their search for new faces, but in case the club are looking for experienced managers, they certainly have no shortage of options.

Antonio Conte offered to Barcelona

According to SPORT, it appears Antonio Conte would be willing to listen to Barcelona, should the club explore the idea of hiring him next season, with the Italian coach’s services offered to the Catalans.

Conte has been without a job since last year, when he parted ways with Tottenham Hotspur in March.

Despite his limited success with Spurs, Conte is regarded as a serial winner and an experienced manager, who has worked with clubs such as Juventus, Inter Milan and Chelsea.

Conte has a proven track record of winning titles and is certainly capable of taking on a large project such as Barcelona.

Barcelona thinking of other alternatives

However, the report confirms that Barcelona have not taken any steps to further their talks with Antonio Conte.

As things stand, the club are determined to hire Jurgen Klopp this summer. The German has recently announced he will leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.

Although Klopp is expected to take a long break, Barcelona are keen on convincing the former Dortmund boss to take on the project in Catalonia.

Apart from Klopp, Barça have several other alternatives and it appears Conte is certainly not among Deco’s top priorities right now.

But one thing is for certain – the Barça project is likely to attract many top coaches in Europe and it will be interesting to see who ends up taking charge of the helm at Catalonia next season.
