Four Barcelona stars risk being suspended for Athletic Club clash if booked vs Getafe

Barcelona have an important game coming up later this afternoon as they take on Getafe at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

It is a must-win game for the Catalans, especially if they are to remain in the race for the league title, with Girona and Real Madrid already enjoying significant leads.

Heading into this game, however, a few Barcelona stars may have to proceed with caution as they are facing the risk of suspended in the next game.

Four Barcelona players risk suspension vs Athletic Club

The players in question are Robert Lewandowski, Ronald Araujo, Joao Cancelo, and Oriol Romeu. All four players are running the risk of receiving a suspension for the next game against Athletic Club if they receive a booking today.

That is because all four of them have received four yellow cards in La Liga this season. Picking up another this afternoon will them out of the next game.

Lewandowski, Cancelo, and Araujo, in particular, must proceed the game with caution as all three are key elements to the Barcelona first team.

If the Catalans are to push forward for the league title, they cannot afford to lose any of these three stars in the upcoming game against Athletic Club.

Oriol Romeu, meanwhile, has been a bit-part player in the first-team setup this season. But he is a crucial alternative in the midfield department, especially if Barcelona require more strength and energy in the middle of the park.

However, it must be noted that none of these four players can possibly evade the yellow card suspension until the end of the season.

Therefore, they must approach the games logically. While the next game against Athletic Club will be tough, Barça will be taking on Mallorca in the game after, where the club may be able to afford losing any of these stars due to suspension.
