At least six games during a high-octane January


Dreams intact as Barça start 2024 with a lot to look forward to. The Copa del Rey begins, there is the defence of the Spanish Super Cup title, plus the LaLiga title is up for grabs. January sees the challenges come thick and fast for the blaugranas.

Las Palmas v Barça (LaLiga)

The blaugranes travel to the Canary Islands to take on one of this LaLiga season’s revelations on 4 January. Coached by a former azulgrana García Pimienta, Unión Deportiva Las Palmas have made a splash in this season’s domestic competition. Currently ninth in the table, they are in the hunt for European qualification.

Barbastro v Barça (Copa del Rey)

The knockout competition begins for FC Barcelona away in Aragon on 7 January. Barbastro put out Almería to go through to the round of 32. A win at the Campo Municipal de Deportes will see Barça into the last 16 tie to be played on 17 January.

Barça v Osasuna (Spanish Super Cup)

Xavi Hernández’ side will begin the defence of their title in Arabia against the team from Navarre on 11 January, which sees the LaLiga winner against the Copa del Rey finalist from the last season. Should the Catalans beat Osasuna, they will play the final on 14 January against the winner of the other semi-final between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid on 10 January.

Betis v Barça (LaLiga)

Back to the league for Barça after two cup games, for the second LaLiga game of 2024 away to Real Betis at the Benito Villamarín stadium. The Andalusian side are currently in a European qualification spot and Pellegrini’s team will want to ensure they are there are the end of the season, with a place in the Champions League or Europa League at stake.

Barça v Villareal (LaLiga)

The first home game of 2024. Villareal will visit the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys and will hope to be back to form under coach Marcelino. The game is on 28 January and Barça will want to sink the “yellow submarine” for the second time this season after the 3-4 win at the Estadi de la Ceràmica.

Barça v Osasuna (LaLiga)

A midweek fixture a few days later will be a replay of the Spanish Super Cup semi-final and the second game in a row at home for Barça in 2024. Another win will be the aim after Barça won 1-2 in the away fixture.
