This March 2024 the 11th edition of the Barça Academy World Cup took place. Barça Academies from all around the world met in Barcelona to face each other in this prestigious internal tournament. Barça Academy Pro Miami was represented by 3 teams; 2016, 2014 and 2012.
The journey in Barcelona started with friendly games in Castellbisbal. Our teams from BARÇA Academy Pro Miami played against BARÇA Academy Pro NY, BARÇA Academy Nara (Japan) & Penya Barcelonista Castellbisbal. Our 3 teams enjoyed an amazing environment full of soccer and friendship between all the teams. It was a good warm-up for our teams before the World Cup kick off.
After these friendly games we were ready for the competition. It was time for our teams to go to the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper to have the initial ceremony and start the competition.
Our 3 teams did an amazing job, enjoyed and learnt new experiences that will last forever.
Special mention to our 2012 Lewandowski that got the 3rd place out of 44 teams in their age group. We played against Italia, Yokohama, Istanbul, Zurich and we lost the semifinals against Barcelona Escola. In Marenostrum Cup we also reached 3rd place in the gold bracket. We just lost the semifinal against Gimnastic Manresa.
2014 had a hard competition during the BAWC. Our team did not start the experience so well but ended up performing at a high level during the last tournament. At Marenostrum Cup we arrived at the final of the silver bracket and we lost it against Rondos Academy (UK).
Our 2016 team was able to live for the first time an experience that they will never forget. Two international tournaments in Barcelona for our younger ones. We are sure they will always remember their first Barça Experience.
We closed the experience attending an FC Barcelona game at the stadium. All our kids enjoyed an awesome environment at Montjuic and were able to see how Barça won 1-0 against Las Palmas after Raphinha’s goal.
We are sure our kids are counting the days until they come back to our magic city.
