Barça and Real Madrid face off in the National Cup Villa de Los Realejos (Tenerife)

Donato Gama da Silva, a former player of Atlético de Madrid, Deportivo de la Coruña, and the Spanish National Soccer Team, will be the godfather of the eighth edition of the Benjamins Nacional Cup Villa de Los Realejos tournament in Tenerife. The tournament will take place at the Iván Ramallo stadium from April 19 to 21.

Teams like Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla, Real Betis, and UD Las Palmas will be participating in the tournament, along with 20 other Canarian teams.

The organization has announced that on April 18, Donato will be part of a public meeting at 1:00 p.m. at the Iván Ramallo sports complex, where the playing field is made of natural grass.

Donato, originally from Brazil, is the second player born outside of Spain with the most games played in the Spanish First Division, following the Argentine Lionel Messi. He represented Spain internationally 12 times.

Donato made his debut with the national team on November 16, 1994, in a match against Denmark (3-0). He played the full match and scored the second goal for Spain. Known for his leadership on the field, he retired at the age of 40.

The event is organized by the Los Realejos City Council, in partnership with Promofone Canarias and other entities, groups, and companies.

Last year, the event was sponsored by former international player Óscar Alberto Dertycia, who was born in Argentina and played for teams like CD Tenerife during his career in the National First Division.

Previous editions of the tournament have been sponsored by former coach of the Spanish National Team, Vicente del Bosque, and former players like Gerard López from FC Barcelona and Valencia.

Entry to the tournament will be a donation in favor of the Canarian Association of Patients and Families of Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Ostomy (ACEIIO) and the Blue Vision Autism Association. In this grassroots tournament, tribute will be paid to former referee Domingo Dorta, now deceased.
