Barcelona cooling interest in Roberto De Zerbi

Barcelona have been linked with a move for Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi, a target for Liverpool.

Roberto De Zerbi has done quite well in the Premier League, and he has impressed the top clubs with his management. According to SPORT, Barcelona were eyeing him as a potential replacement for Xavi Hernandez but are now cooling their interest in him.

It will be interesting to see if the Blaugrana decide to move on to other targets. De Zerbi has done an impressive job at Brighton, impressing one and all with his brave approach and attacking football. Brighton are having a sub-par campaign by their standards, so they will want to finish the season strongly.

He has been linked with other top Premier League clubs like Liverpool, who need to bring in a quality replacement for Jurgen Klopp, and it remains to be seen whether the Seagulls can hold on to him beyond this season. The 44-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best young managers in Europe, and he could have been a quality addition to Barcelona.

Could Roberto De Zerbi have made the step up to Barcelona?

The Spanish giants are having a disappointing season by their standards, and they will look to bounce back strongly. They will hope to win the league title once again, and it will be interesting to see who they appoint as their next manager. De Zerbi is relatively unproven at this level but he has shown the pedigree to manage the top clubs.

The opportunity to join clubs like Barcelona can be hard to turn down, and if the Spanish giants were serious about appointing him as their next manager, the Italian could have easily been tempted to leave Brighton. But the Blaugrana want a Spanish speaking manager and are also ruling out a move for Hansi Flick.

With that said, managing clubs like Barcelona can be huge pressure. The demand for trophies, every season can be difficult to handle for most managers. As things stand, the current development will come as a major boost for the Seagulls, who will hope that Barcelona abandon their pursuit of the 44-year-old and move on to other targets.
