Barcelona future defensive target close to joining Tottenham in €30 million+ deal

Genoa defender Radu Dragusin is a wanted man at the moment. The 6’3” defender from Romania once had a hard time adjusting to the competitive nature at Juventus, resulting in a permanent move to Genoa in January 2023.

The Serie A side paid around €5.5 million plus €1.8 million in conditional bonuses for the 21-year-old defender and it is said that the player now has a release clause in his current contract worth €30 million.

Despite this rise in his market price, the Romanian has no shortage of suitors and if a report from SPORT is to be believed, the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich are quite interested in his acquisition this month.

What’s that to do with Barcelona?

Last month, we reported that Barcelona are very much interested in Dragusin, but Tottenham have already made an official approach for the player which is close to his release clause.

In a twisting turn of events, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have not only matched the tally but have also upped the figure, offering around €31 million for the defender.

Both Tottenham and Bayern seemed optimistic enough mostly because the former had agreed to personal terms with the player, while the latter is flexing on the improved offer.

Barcelona’s dream to sign the ‘new Araujo’ is set to sink in deep waters mostly because Tottenham have suddenly decided to improve their proposal overnight, reports Fabrizio Romano

The journalist affirms that the London-based team wants the player to respect the previous agreement, with the deal now set to be closed for over €30 million, putting Barcelona out of the picture altogether.
