Barcelona getting quite serious about 17-year-old Swedish talent, could pursue January deal

Barcelona’s interest in Lucas Bergvall is no longer a secret. The Blaugrana have been observing his performance for quite a while and if a report from Mundo Deportivo is to be believed, they are beginning to get quite serious about his acquisition.

It is said that Barcelona are paying close attention to talented young players in global football. However, due to limited funds, they cannot just go all out for the talents.

However, their budget is tight so they must choose carefully which players to pursue and make sure they make the most of their financial resources.

Barcelona have a positive report on Bergvall

Bergvall is not just another name associated with Barcelona just to boost his value. The alleged interest from Barcelona in his services is quite genuine.

The sports department at Barça believes that the young Swede has the potential to join the first team relatively quickly after a reasonable adaptation period.

Barcelona are actively pursuing Bergvall because they have been monitoring him for a while, and the technical evaluations are favourable. Among all the young players in the market, he stands out as one of Barcelona’s favourites.

Bergvall’s demand is high

The aforementioned publication mentions that before even launching an official offer, Barcelona checked to see where the 17-year-old midfielder wants to play. It seems he prefers Barcelona, even though other big clubs like Manchester United, Inter Milan, Udinese, and Eintracht Frankfurt are also interested.

Right now, the German club is leading the race with an offer of about €8.5 million. However, this is still below the €10 million that the player’s current club is asking for. At the same time, it is rumoured that Barcelona has offered around €6.5 million for him.

It is to be noted that Bergvall’s current contract runs until 2025 and Barcelona want him midway between the reserve and first teams. Whether he gets a chance in the first team depends on how well he adapts.

Bergvall is considering leaving since the Swedish league doesn’t start until March and at the same time, Barça need someone to fill in for Gavi’s injury and Oriol Romeu’s reduced role.

While finding an experienced player is the priority, if there’s not much money available this winter, Bergvall could be a low-cost option.
