Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen ahead of schedule in injury recovery

Barcelona have received some good news on the injury front, with goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen two weeks ahead of schedule in his recovery from back surgery.

Ter Stegen went under the knife at the start of December and it was thought he would miss at least two months of action for Barcelona.

Relevo are reporting that Ter Stegen is actually recovering more quickly than expected and could be back in action by the end of the month.

The current plan is for Ter Stegen to return to training either at the end of January or the start of February and potentially return against Alaves or Granada.

Barcelona definitely want their No. 1 goalkeeper back in time for the return of the Champions League and the game against Napoli but he could well have returned well before the game.

Inaki Pena has filled in for Barcelona while Ter Stegen has been out but will drop straight back down to the bench as soon as the German is ready to roll.
