Barcelona had the highest transfer market spike post January transfer window thanks to new Brazilian star

Barcelona witnessed a relatively quiet January transfer window, with Vitor Roque being the only new arrival. On the flip side, the club did not sanction any exits, either on loan or on a permanent deal.

However, compared to the rest of Europe, Barcelona’s January window was a major outlier. It was earlier reported that Barça’s total spending in January eclipsed all Premier League clubs, including the top six.

Barcelona: Most revalued Spanish team post January

In addition to outspending all Premier League clubs in January, Barcelona have now also emerged as the most revalued Spanish team after the end of the January transfer window.

That is according to Mundo Deportivo, which suggests that Barça’s value appreciated about €40 million following the arrival of Vitor Roque in January.

Villarreal are a distant second, even with the acquisition of Goncalo Guedes and Bertrand Traore. Their arrivals helped the club increase their valuation by €23 million.

Sevilla are third, witnessing a €19.9 million appreciation thanks to the loan arrivals of Lucien Agoume, Hannibal and Alejo Veliz.

On the flip side, Getafe witnessed the most depreciation in its value in January, primarily due to the departures of Damian Suarez, Stefan Mitrovic, Choco Lozano and Enes Unal.

What about Barça’s rivals?

Interestingly Real Madrid’s valuation has remained the same as the Spanish giants did not make a single transaction during the winter transfer window.

Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, saw a €12 million rise in valuation following the arrival of Arthur Vermeeren, Horatju Moldovan and Gabriel Paulista, who joined the club on a free transfer.

Barcelona’s Catalan rivals Girona saw their valuation dip by €1.7 million, thanks to the departure of Bernardo Espinosa.
