Transfer Rumors and News

Barcelona interested in 18-year-old Swedish prodigy, Manchester United, Tottenham also keen – Romano

While Real Madrid continue their objective of roping in big names and Galactico signing, Barcelona are forced to eye a different route for financial reasons. The Catalans are far from the financial freedom required to pull off major heists and are unsurprisingly looking for younger names.

The lesser-known teenage talents might not necessarily be cheap in today’s transfer market. When compared to more established names and the fees they command, however, names like Estevao, Roony Bardghji, and Lucas Bergvall stand out.

The Swedish whizkid

As revealed by Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona are one of the top clubs who are maintaining a close eye on Swedish prospect Roony Bardghji.

The 18-year-old forward is considered one of the best talents coming out of his country and has demonstrated that he can play at the highest level in recent months.

The Catalan scouts have been spotted in the audience on several occasions to maintain an eye on Bardghji.

However, they are not the only club interested in the teenager as Bayern Munich, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are also well rooted in the hunt.

An interesting situation

Bardghji made the headlines in November last year when he netted a goal in the UEFA Champions League against Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United. He enjoyed a stellar season for FC Copenhagen across all competitions but is yet to play a single minute in 2024.

Fabrizio Romano furthers that the reason behind his isolation from the team’s dynamics is his reluctance to sign a new contract at the club.

Given that his contract runs down in December 2025, he is likely to make a big move this summer and Barcelona will be alert.

After losing Rasmus Højlund, Manchester United’s recent €74 million signing, for €2 million just two years before the big money move, Copenhagen will ensure they do not sell Bardghji for a low sum. All eyes, thus, turn to Barcelona’s financial cap and priorities for the summer.
