Barcelona managerial target denies meeting club for meeting – report

Barcelona’s potential names to replace Xavi as the head coach at the end of the season have boiled down to largely two names for now — the unemployed Hansi Flick, and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi.

Barcelona will need to pay De Zerbi’s release clause to Brighton to pursue him, which makes the operation much more complicated than Flick’s appointment, who is currently out of a job.

The former Bayern Munich manager led Germany for two years, and during the World Cup, but after six losses and seven draws in 25 total games in-charge, he was sacked from his position.

He is tempted by Barça’s interest, and would be happy to take over the job. However, Flick’s entourage have denied any reports of his agent meeting with the club, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo.

Flick is also attracting the interest of none other than Bayern themselves, who will part ways with Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season. The former Chelsea man finds his team seven points behind Bayer Leverkusen right now, who have a game over the Bavarians.

Tuchel will also be without a club come the summer, and as such, he has been linked with a move to Barcelona, as well.

He was questioned about his future recently, though, where he made sure to commit himself to Bayern till the end of the season.

“Nothing’s going to happen with me before the end of the season,” Tuchel said two weeks ago.

“I have a very high professional expectation of myself and that’s completely dedicated to Bayern Munich until the end of the season.”

Barcelona’s search for a new manager has largely taken them to Germany for now, but as the months pass them by, they could open their horizons to look at other potential options across Europe.
