Barcelona president meets La Liga club chief amid transfer links involving multiple stars


Barcelona and Girona squared off on the pitch this past weekend, with the latter emerging triumphant 4-2 at Estadi Montilivi.

The result also meant a blow for Barça with regard to their aspirations of finishing second in La Liga.

While the two teams might be in a direct battle to finish runners-up this season, they are also likely to be in negotiations over multiple transfer deals come summer.

Laporta meets Girona’s Pere Guardiola

That is why there has been a lot of intrigue generated as Barcelona president Joan Laporta met with Pere Guardiola, the president of the board of directors of Girona, as per SPORT.

Laporta and Guardiola had met previously as well not very long ago, with that summit being to discuss non-football matters.

Whether the latest meeting, which took place at the Blaugrana’s offices today, was related to footballing topics or something else is not clear.

But it must be noted that Barcelona and Girona could be involved in multiple player deals this summer.

A busy summer for Barça and Girona

Indeed, Barcelona have their eyes on a Girona player in the form of Aleix Garcia, with sporting director Deco keen on signing the Spanish midfielder in the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, Girona have their sights set on a couple of players from Barça in the form of Oriol Romeu and Eric Garcia, with the latter already being at the Montilivi outfit on loan.

In fact, only earlier today, Girona manager Michel confirmed the club’s serious interest in the Barcelona pair, stating that they can be top signings for the summer.
