Barcelona are selling grass from the Camp Nou as the club’s iconic stadium continues to undergo a £1.3billion renovation.

The La Liga giants moved out of the stadium at the end of last season, with the redevelopment expected to be completed in time for the start of the 2025/26 campaign.

While Barcelona are playing their home matches at the 54,000 capacity Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in the city, the club have found new ways to make money from the Camp Nou.

Supporters are able to buy original grass from the stadium through the club’s website.

One limited edition product includes the grass in a scale model of the Camp Nou, which has been priced at €49.99 (£43).

Grass can also be purchased in methacrylate for €79.99 (£69), as well as the highest priced memorabilia with grass coming in a wooden frame costing €419.99 (£360).

Barcelona state that each of the products come authenticated with the signature of a notary to confirm the it was original grass from the stadium.

The products also state that the grass will maintain a ‘natural look for an unlimited period of time’ unless exposed to high humidity or direct sunlight.

Due to the grass having been treated, it does not require watering after being bought.

Barcelona, additionally, are selling a range of jewellery which has been produced with the use of Camp Nou grass to sell.

The jewellery also features bracelets including 1957, the year the Camp Nou opened, as well diamonds.

Spanish reports have also claimed Barcelona have set up a shop to sell the limited edition products to fans outside their temporary home ground this season.

Athletic Club and Atletico Madrid previously sold grass from their pitches after moving from historical grounds to new homes.

Barcelona’s products come despite the club moving back into the Camp Nou after the renovation work.

Barcelona’s renovation will include a roof and the stadium’s name being changed to the Spotify Nou Camp. The capacity will also increase from 99,000 to 105,000.

The Blaugrana will also create more facilities for supporters, including new VIP areas, while the seats inside the stadium will also be bigger after the plans are completed.

They had originally hoped to reopen the stadium in time for their 125th anniversary in 2024, but their return is now expected to come in the 2025-26 season.

It is set to earn the club an extra £25million a year when completed.

Barcelona have had well documented financial problems in recent years, although the club claimed in September to have reduced its debt for the second year in a row.
